Bio

Hello! My name is Sam Karp, and I’m a fourth-year Political Science major at Purdue University—Boiler Up! Originally from Pasadena, California, I was born and raised beneath the San Gabriel Mountains and have carried that same energy and curiosity with me to Indiana. Alongside my major, I’m pursuing minors in Economics and Environmental Politics and Policy, where my studies explore the intersection of governance, sustainability, and economic systems.

Work Experience
I have gained valuable experience through several professional and leadership roles. As a Political Affairs Intern with The Borgen Project, I lobbied U.S. senators, congressmen, and local political leaders to advocate for global poverty reduction initiatives. My work also involved leading grassroots campaigns that mobilized communities in support of humanitarian policy efforts.

Most recently, I served as an Event Management Intern for the Purdue Athletics Department (August 2023 – January 2025), where I helped coordinate large-scale university athletic events, manage logistics, and enhance the fan and athlete experience.

Beyond internships, I’ve held leadership positions with several Purdue organizations, including serving as a Chair for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a member of Purdue Dance Marathon supporting Riley Hospital for Children, and a team leader for Boiler Gold Rush, Purdue’s freshman orientation program.
Eduction
I am currently completing my B.A. in Political Science at Purdue University, with minors in Economics and Environmental Politics and Policy. I hold a CITI Program Research Certificate for advanced research competencies and maintain a 3.4 GPA, with an expected graduation in May 2026.

Extra
Outside of academics and work, I’m passionate about the outdoors. Whether hiking, surfing, or skiing, I love exploring nature and have visited National Parks across the country since childhood. I’ve recently developed an interest in baking and painting, creative outlets that let me unwind and express myself. A lifelong athlete, I’ve played baseball and soccer for many years and continue to value teamwork, discipline, and balance in all aspects of my life.
